Issues in Using Social Networking Sites During Jury Selection
On June 6, 2008, Edward P. Schwartz participated in a panel, at the annual meetings of the American Society of Trial Consultants (ASTC), on the importance of Internet-based social networking sites for trial consulting.

Hindsight Bias and other Probabilistic Processing Problems
In August, 2006, Edward P. Schwartz gave a presentation to the Costco Wholesale Defense Counsel Conference in Issaquah, WA. He focused on the difficulty that jurors have assessing risk, calculating probabilities and evaluating precautionary measures. Many of these problems conspire to make jurors very critical of companies who fail to prevent accidents, even where said accidents might be considered unpreventable.

In January 2006, Edward P. Schwartz was invited to speak at the Mid-winter Social of the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association (Massdla.org). In November 2005, Edward P. Schwartz participated in a panel, entitled "How to successfully try a business case to a jury," sponsored by the Business Litigation Committee of the Boston Bar Association. The session was moderated by Committee Co-chair Ron Davids and Mr. Schwartz was joined on the panel by U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Gertner and Attorney Leonard Kesten. meeting of the American Society of Trial Consultants. He led a discussion of
the recently ratified American Bar Association "Principles for Juries and
Jury Trials".

In November, 2003, Mr. Schwartz was asked to give a presentation for Risk
Management Foundation's "Law Day," an event for the hundreds of lawyers
who handle cases for RMF. He offered some insights on designing scientifically
sound and strategically useful focus groups and interpreting their results.
